Director of Communication & Special Projects

Jennifer Pletan serves as Director of Communication and Special Projects at Hi-Line Capital Management, where she leads client communication, project management, business development initiatives, and research support. With more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience, she brings operational insight, organizational discipline, and a deep understanding of institutional environments to her work.

Jennifer’s background in healthcare administration informs her perspective at Hi-Line Capital Management. Having worked closely with executive teams and governing boards, she understands the financial, operational, and strategic pressures facing hospitals and health systems. She supports Hi-Line’s mission by ensuring that clients — including hospitals, foundations, RIAs, and private investors — receive clear communication, structured implementation support, and thoughtful coordination across every engagement.

Leadership at Hi-Line Capital

In her role, Jennifer oversees client communications and serves as a central coordinator for strategic initiatives across the firm’s Proprietary Investment Strategies. She manages special projects that advance Hi-Line’s institutional-grade portfolio models and supports research efforts that strengthen the firm’s disciplined investment framework.

Jennifer works closely with leadership and the Investment Committee to ensure that client deliverables, reporting processes, and business development initiatives are executed with consistency and professionalism. She also contributes to Strategic Investment Reviews and supports engagements within the firm’s Fiduciary Advisory Leadership service, helping clients navigate complex governance and investment discussions with clarity and structure.

Her work reinforces one of Hi-Line Capital’s core strengths: disciplined processes that endure through leadership transitions and changing market conditions.

Professional Background

Prior to joining Hi-Line Capital, Jennifer spent more than two decades in healthcare leadership. Her career focused on administrative operations, strategic planning, and organizational management within complex healthcare systems. This experience provides her with firsthand knowledge of governance dynamics, regulatory environments, and institutional decision-making.

Her healthcare background enhances her ability to communicate sophisticated investment concepts in a way that resonates with executive teams and boards. She understands the realities of operating margins, capital constraints, and long-term sustainability — and brings that perspective into every client interaction.

Investment Philosophy

Jennifer believes that strong investment outcomes are supported by structure, discipline, and long-term thinking. She values clear communication, consistent reporting, and governance frameworks that promote sound decision-making across market cycles.

Her approach aligns closely with Hi-Line Capital’s emphasis on institutional portfolio construction, risk-aware asset allocation, and fiduciary alignment. Whether supporting implementation of the firm’s proprietary models or contributing to governance discussions, she views investment management as a long-term stewardship responsibility rather than a short-term exercise.

Personal Background

Jennifer grew up on her family’s farm in South Dakota, where she learned the value of discipline and steady effort from a young age. Her family raised cattle and crops, and she spent many hours working in the fields on tractors and combines — experiences that instilled a lasting appreciation for hard work and long-term stewardship.

She and her husband, Jody, have three children and raise quarter horses. Jennifer enjoys spending time outdoors, working alongside her family, and caring for their horses — pursuits that reflect the same consistency and responsibility she brings to her professional life.

Jennifer’s work at Hi-Line Capital reflects a steady commitment to communication, structure, and long-term responsibility — qualities that support enduring institutions and the communities they serve.

Education

Jennifer earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from the University of South Dakota. She went on to complete her Master of Healthcare Administration at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Her graduate education strengthened her foundation in healthcare finance, organizational leadership, and strategic planning.
